CAMP Planning Documents
- The CAMP Final Conceptual Plan (11 MB) was written in 1996. It provides the guiding principles that were later used to develop the CAMP Implementation Plan.
- A CAMP Implementation Plan was finalized in 1997. The document describes how the CAMP will monitor fish resources and assess biological results and effectiveness of habitat restoration activities.
- The CAMP Rotary Screw Trap Protocol (1 MB) provides a standardized method for quantifying the number of juvenile salmon that emigrate from tributary streams and rivers in the Central Valley.
- A technical memorandum (455 KB) written in 2002 highlights the need to conduct systematic monitoring over a large area and time period if there is to be an ability to determine which restoration activities are most cost effective.
CAMP Annual Reports
- 1995-97 CAMP Annual Report (2.3 MB)
- 1998 CAMP Annual Report (2.6 MB)
- 1999 CAMP Annual Report (2.8 MB)
- 2000 CAMP Annual Report (615 KB)
- 2007 CAMP Annual Report (1.2 MB)
CAMP-Funded Projects
CAMP occasionally funds monitoring activities if they are specifically called for in the CAMP Implementation Plan. Monitoring activities that have been funded with CAMP dollars since 2003 include:
- Central Valley salmon and steelhead harvest monitoring project angler surveys.
This report quantifies the amount of angler harvest of Chinook salmon on several major rivers in the Central
Valley of California.
- 1998 Angler Survey (545 KB)
- 1999 Angler Survey (632 KB)
- 2000 Angler Survey (574 KB)
- 2001 Angler Survey (632 KB)
- 2002 Angler Survey (1149 KB)
- Partially funding the purchase and installation of a digital video recorder on Battle Creek. A 2006 Battle Creek Adult Salmonid Monitoring Report evaluates the effectiveness of using the digital video recorder instead of an analog video cassette recorder to monitor the passage of Chinook salmon at a weir at the Coleman National Fish Hatchery.
CAMP-Funded Projects (cont.)
- Snorkel surveys for juvenile Chinook salmon on the American River in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006.
A summary report that synthesizes the data from the period 2003-2005 was also developed.
- 2003 American River Snorkel Survey (569 KB)
- 2004 American River Snorkel Survey (5.5 MB)
- 2005 American River Snorkel Survey (12 MB)
- 2006 American River Snorkel Survey (5.5 MB)
- Summary Report (1963 KB)
- Snorkel surveys for juvenile Chinook salmon in the middle reach of the Sacramento River were conducted in the late summer and fall of 2004, 2005 and 2006.
- A seine survey for juvenile Chinook salmon was conducted in the western portion of the Sacramento -
San Joaquin River Delta in the winter of 2005 and 2006.
- 2005-2006 Western Delta Seine Survey (1.7 MB)
- Preparing a report that summarizes rotary screw trap data from Battle Creek between September 1998 and February 2001.
- Quantifying habitat features that must be managed to restore juvenile salmonid numbers on Clear Creek in northern California.
- Operating rotary screw traps that quantify the number of young salmons that move through the lower Merced River toward the San Joaquin River in central California.
- Operating rotary screw traps that quantify the number of young salmons that move through the lower Stanislaus River toward the San Joaquin River in central California. These data are summarized in a data report.
- Quantifying the production of winter-run Chinook salmon in a portion of the Sacramento River
during the 2006 spawning season.
- 2006 Sacramento River Carcass Survey (192 KB)
