MAMMALS ON THE REFUGE

Mammals have characteristics that distinguish them from other animals. They have hair (often called fur), control their body temperature, and nurse their young. Almost all mammals give birth instead of laying eggs. Prairie dogs, coyotes and mule deer are commonly seen at the refuge.
