CARNIVORES ON THE REFUGE

Carnivores are mammals that have fanged teeth and eat the flesh of other animal. Carnivores are at the top of the food chain. Carnivores eat other animals, which in turn eat plants, which get and store energy from the sun. It's one big circle. The only animals that eat carnivores are bigger carnivores.

The coyote is a member of the dog family. In size and shape the coyote is like a medium-sized Collie dog, but its tail is round and bushy and is carried straight out below the level of its back.

At the Refuge there are seven common carnivores as listed on the right.
