VISITOR CENTER LEARNING LAB

Come and explore the Visitor Center Learning Lab to discover what grows, creeps, crawls, hops, swims, flies and slithers on the Refuge. The lab is for children of all ages to experience nature through hands-on activities and displays.

  • Discover what owls eat as you dissect an owl pellet.
  • Visit the Lab’s live animals to learn first-hand how bees, bull snakes, tiger salamanders, and fish are an important part of prairie and wetland ecosystems.
  • See the Refuge's live bee tree to watch our pollinators at work!
  • Become a “scat detective."
  • Learn about native prairie plants.
