There are other laws and regulations that concern the protection and management of cultural resources, and several of these are applicable to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. The National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 requires federal agencies to consider the effects of their actions on the environment. The Archaeological Resources Protection Act of 1979 (ARPA) prohibits archaeological investigation on or the removal of artifacts from federal lands without a permit from the agency that has jurisdiction over the land. The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of 1990 (NAGPRA) protects Native American human remains and associated objects on federal lands and provides for their return to the appropriate Native American organization. Cultural resources are inventoried at Rocky Mountain Arsenal according to the legal requirements contained in the National Historic Preservation Act and the regulations issued by the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation for the protection of historic properties.
