Ridgefield NWR - 2012/2013 Waterfowl Season Summary

During the 2012-13 season, 1,777 hunters harvested a total of 3,236 ducks. When compared to the 2011-12 season, there were 58 less hunters (3.2% decrease) and 286 more ducks taken (9.7% increase). The average number of ducks per hunter increased to 1.8 from 1.6.

The primary duck species harvested were as follows:

Northern Shoveler - 38.6%
Northern Pintail - 16.2%
Mallard - 13.9%
American Wigeon - 5.8%
Green-Wing Teal - 4.9%

During the 2012-13 season, a total of 144 geese were harvested. When compared to the 2011-12 season, there were 15 more geese taken (11.6% increase).
