 The Dunes Center, a local nonprofit organization, manages a visitor center in the town of Guadalupe adjacent to the refuge office. The Dunes Center provides high quality interpretive exhibits, educational programs, and information regarding the plant and animals found in the Nipomo Dunes. The visitor center is open Friday-Sunday. The Dunes Center also offers interpretative hikes and tours of the dunes.  The opportunities for recreational surf fishing.  The refuge provides a unique "wilderness" dune experience not found in other parts of the Nipomo dunes system. Recreational opportunities include beachcombing, surf fishing, hiking, wildlife observation, and wildlife photography.
