More than 200 species of grassland- and wetland-dependent birds use the mosaic of habitats in and around the refuge.

Environmental Education
Environmental education programs and tours are available for school groups, teachers, universities, and professional or civic groups upon request.

Hunting
Portions of Lake Alice NWR are open to public hunting. Special regulations apply to many seasons and permits may be required for hunting of certain species. Please contact the Devils Lake WMD office for specific hunting regulations.

Interpretation

Wildlife Observation
Lake Alice NWR offers excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and photography. While access with motorized vehicles has been severely restricted by high water, foot travel is permitted and encouraged. Wildlife observation and photography opportunities are excellent in the spring and fall during peak migration periods. Large numbers of wading and marsh birds are also present throughout the summer months.




Hours
Devils Lake WMD office is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, except on Federal holidays. Lake Alice NWR is open from sunrise to sunset daily.

Entrance Fees
The Refuge does not charge an entrance fee.

Use Fees
The Refuge does not charge user fees (i.e., hunt fees, camping fees, boat launch, meeting rooms rental fees, auto tour fees, guided tour fees, etc.).
