WPAs are numerous and widespread throughout the Devils Lake WMD, providing tremendous opportunities for public recreation. WPAs are open to public hunting and trapping in accordance with state seasons and applicable state and Federal laws.
Interpretive programs or tours are available for school groups, teachers, universities, and professional or civic groups by reservation only. Please contact the District staff for more information.
WPAs provide many opportunities for year-round outdoor enjoyment. Many WPAs are located adjacent to state or Federal highways and are easily accessible. WPAs offer excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and photography, especially during peak spring and fall migration periods. While motorized vehicle traffic on WPAs is prohibited, foot travel is permitted.
The Devils Lake WMD office is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays. WPAs are open 24 hours daily, but camping is prohibited.
No entrance fees charged for access to WPAs. The Wetland Management District does not charge user fees (i.e., hunt fees, camping fees, boat launch, meeting rooms rental fees, auto tour fees, guided tour fees, etc.). |
