  Recreation and Education Opportunities

Environmental Education
Permits are available for hiking, wildlife observation/photography, and environmental study.

Hunting
Lake Zahl NWR is open annually to archery deer hunting and late season upland bird hunting for ring-necked pheasants, gray partridge, and sharp-tailed grouse.

Interpretation
An on-site kiosk is available adjacent to State Highway 50 with information on Refuge activities.

Wildlife Observation
Permits are available for hiking, wildlife observation/photography, and environmental study.




Hours
Lake Zahl NWR can be visited by obtaining a permit through the Crosby WMD office in Crosby, North Dakota. Crosby WMD office hours are from 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays.

Entrance Fees
The Refuge does not charge an entrance fee.

Use Fees
The Refuge does not charge user fees (i.e., hunt fees, camping fees, boat launch, meeting rooms rental fees, auto tour fees, guided tour fees, etc.).
