Fishing
There are currently no fishing opportunities on the refuge.

Hunting
There are currently no hunting opportunities on the refuge.

Wildlife Observation
The refuge is open for wildlife observation and photography. Viewing grassland birds is the primary reason to visit. Short-eared owls and northern harriers put on a wonderful display at dusk from late fall to late winter. Breeding grassland birds arrive in spring and stay through the summer. Fall migration is also a good time to visit.

Because of potential safety hazards left by the military, public access is restricted to the existing roadway and runways.
