  Recreation and Education Opportunities

Environmental Education
Environmental education is important at Lake Ophelia. Opportunities include interpretive trails, and school group tours.

Fishing
Fishing is allowed on most refuge lakes. Popular fish species include catfish, largemouth bass, and crappie. Boats are allowed.

Hunting
Hunting opportunities at Lake Ophelia include waterfowl, whitetail deer with archery (or quota permit muzzleloader), and small game.

Wildlife Observation
Wildlife observation is allowed year-around although ATV use is limited seasonally.

Wildlife photography is allowed year-around and excellent opportunities are available.

Hours
Lake Ophelia NWR headquarters is open weekdays from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm. The refuge itself is open every day during daylight hours.

Entrance Fees
there are no entrance fees,

Entrance Fees
there is a fee for ATV use, fishing, and hunting. This fee is $12.50 annually.
