  Recreation and Education Opportunities

Hunting
Those interested in hunting on the refuge are required to obtain a free refuge hunting permit which outlines the special regulations that apply to the refuge. Permits can be obtained at the Refuge Headquarters or via mail. Most hunting seasons and regulations coincide with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Statewide hunting regulations.

Wildlife Observation
Currently the refuge is open to wildlife observation, wildlife photography, hunting, fishing, wildlife education, wildlife interpretation, and other wildlife-dependent recreational opportunities. The refuge is not open to camping.

Anyone interested in wildlife observation or other wildlife-dependent recreational opportunities should orient themselves by visiting the Refuge Headquarters before embarking on a tour of the refuge. There are many public roads that traverse the refuge and some undeveloped trails that provide many wildlife viewing opportunities.
