The Morris Wetland Management District protects habitat for nesting waterfowl, such as blue-winged teal. | ||
School groups and others use waterfowl production areas for environmental education programs. Each year, over 100 second graders from various school districts spend a special day at the headquarters site near Morris.
All waterfowl production area wetlands are open to fishing in accordance with state regulations, but most are too shallow to support fish populations. Consult the staff for tips on areas with gamefish populations.
Most waterfowl production areas are open to hunting in accordance with state regulations. Waterfowl production areas offer excellent hunting for waterfowl, pheasants, deer, and other game.
The Edwards Waterfowl Production Area, at the district headquarters, includes an interpretive hiking trail, a driving tour demonstrating wildlife management techniques, and indoor interpretive exhibits.
All waterfowl production areas are open to wildlife observation and photography.
District Headquarters - Open 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Wildlife Drive - Open daily, dawn to dusk, from spring through mid-October.
There is no entrance fee. |
