Birdwatching is best from November to April. Waterfowl species include pintail, mallard, cinnamon teal, shovelers, and occasionally divers such as redheads and canvasbacks; migrating shorebirds include black-necked stilts and American avocets. Other species to watch for include tricolored blackbirds, burrowing owls, a variety of hawks, rabbits, skunks, coyotes, ground squirrels, and bobcats.
