  Wildlife and Habitat
Continued . . .

The refuge provides approximately 100 acres of restored prairie for grassland birds. These units are maintained by use of prescribed fire. This habitat is used by grasshopper sparrows, dickcissels, meadowlarks, and other grassland-associated birds and animals.

Bottomland forest covers much of Meredosia Island. This habitat provides a home for prothonotary warblers, woodpeckers, deer, turkeys, squirrels, and other forest-dependent wildlife
