The refuge has 4 miles of walking trails. The 1-mile Twin Barns Loop Trail is a fully accessible boardwalk trail with access to the observation platform. The Nisqually Estuary Trail includes .5 miles on a dike and 1 mile on a boardwalk, the Nisqually Estuary Boardwalk. This portion of the trail goes out over the newly restored Nisqually estuary and the last 700 feet is closed seasonally during waterfowl hunting season.
