Keys Kids in Nature! at Florida Keys NWR, Florida
Friends And Volunteers of Refuges' (FAVOR) "Keys Kids in Nature!" project will create a multi-disciplinary indoor/outdoor program that will address local environmental issues and make wildlands education available and equitable for all. By involving formal and non-formal local educators in developing experiential education sites within walking distance of schools, matching program objectives with Florida's "Sunshine State Standards", and providing training to teacher, staff and volunteers, a the project will foster appreciation and understanding of what the NWR system stands for, both nationally and locally. Our goals is to increase Refuge outreach efforts and make experiential education available to 100% of Monroe County teachers at the third grade level.
