National History Day
In line with the 2014 National History Day theme of “Rights and Responsibilities,” the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is offering classroom project ideas that relate to protecting the natural environment.
September 3, 2014, will be the 50th anniversary of the landmark Wilderness Act. As this anniversary approaches, the Service invites discussion of the relationship between people and their environment, including our right and responsibility to protect it.
Equally important is Aldo Leopold’s “land ethic,” described in his A Sand County Almanac, and its relevance to present day America and the care of our natural environment. More information and resources may be found below.
