Event Description: On Saturday, April 20th, 2013, visitors at Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery will celebrate Earth Day to promote environmental citizenship and steer environmental awareness around the world. As part of the global Earth Day 2012 campaign, Wolf Creek NFH will host a FREE event beginning at 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. CST. The local public will fill the hatchery for a day of fun and educational activities that include fishing at the creek, wetlands exploration, fly tying, guided nature hikes, and exhibitors. Live reptiles, amphibians, an opossum, and a skunk, will be presented and other live animals will be on display. A variety of organizations will have booths and hands-on activities that teach people about water pollution, wildlife rehabilitation, and resource management. Tree seedlings, recycling containers, bird houses, etc. will be given away throughout the day. Be sure to bring a large amount of recyclables to receive a recycling bin! Members of PRIDE will be hosting a used cell phone and ink cartridge drive too!
