The Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge is seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals for paid employment opportunities in its Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program.

The Youth Conservation Corps is a summer employment and education program for young men and women from all segments of society, who work, learn and earn together by doing projects on public lands. Participants selected to work at Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge will gain hands-on work experience in the field of conservation management, and learn about the natural and cultural resources of the region while completing priority management projects on a National Wildlife Refuge.

YCC work encompasses a variety of projects, including wildlife habitat improvement, trail work, environmental education and recreation program assistance, and general grounds maintenance projects. Three (3) youth crew member positions and one (1) youth crew leader position will be filled at Detroit River IWR this summer. Work will begin on June 17th and end on August 9th. To be eligible for employment, applicants must be 15 to 18 years old, U.S. citizens, and have a social security card.

This is a non-residential program and participants will be required to provide their own transportation to and from the Refuge office in Grosse Ile, MI on a daily basis. Each applicant must complete the YCC Application and Medical Form, available below, or by emailing the Refuge YCC Coordinator
