Stewardship Volunteer Workshop

Calling all Volunteers! Join us for the Stewardship Volunteer Workshop and make a difference!
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Volunteers are just like you. They're teachers, business executives, parents, retirees, students...you name it. Community involvement played an important role in the establishment of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge (DRIWR) and helped to save units like Humbug Marsh from destruction by developers; We need your help NOW to continue making a difference because the more volunteers we have, the bigger impact we can all make. Together.
DRIWR has numerous volunteer opportunities available for people of all ages to work in visitor services, environmental education, biology, habitat restoration, maintenance, office administration, and more. A Volunteer Workshop will be held on Wednesday, February 20th to discuss opportunities for involvement with Refuge Stewardship efforts. Assistance is needed in a multitude of Resource Management related activities and the following volunteer positions will be the focus of February's workshop:
- Biology Assistant
- GPS/GIS Technician
- Habitat Restoration Technician
- Hunt Program Work Group
- Maintenance Assistant
For a full listing of the many volunteer positions and descriptions available at Detroit River IWR, please visit our Get Involved webpage and download the volunteer position descriptions handout.
All of these opportunities and more will be discussed in detail on February 20th at the Westfield Activities Center from 6pm to 8pm for anyone interested in volunteering for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Doors open at 5:30pm. Email iwr_alliance@yahoo.com or call the Refuge Visitor Services Manager, at 734-692-7649 for more information.
