Annual Refuge Litter DayFebruary 22, 2014
Come out to the refuge and work alongside refuge staff and other members of your community to help beautify the refuge. Volunteers should meet at the refuge maintenance shop at 7:45 AM. We will do a brief safety talk, load up into vehicles, and be on our way to the clean-up sites by 8 AM.
Clean-up will continue until around lunch time when we will all head back to the maintenance shop for a little fun. The Friends of Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge want to show their appreciation for all the work that volunteers do, so they will provide a hot lunch for all participants.
This has always been a fun and rewarding event for everyone involved, so we hope that you and your family or group can attend.
Because snacks and lunch are provided, we ask that participants RSVP by February 19th. You can RSVP by calling the refuge at 270-527-5770 or by emailing Stacey_hayden@fws.gov.
Things to RememberDress for the weather. It might be cold, but you will soon warm up after walking so layers of clothing are helpful. We have a limited number of safety vest for volunteers, so we ask that you wear a hunter orange hat and vest, or a brightly colored jacket and hat. If you have work gloves we encourage you to bring those as well. Rubber boots are strongly encouraged.
If there is accumulation of snow on the ground or precipitation (snow or rain) the day of the event, the event will be canceled. If the event is canceled it will be posted on our facebook page.
