Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge offers six full hook-up Recreational-Vehicle (RV) sites for seasonal volunteers. Volunteers are needed in the Visitor Center, maintenance shop, to help with environmental education and interpretation and many other important jobs on the refuge.
In exchange for 24 to 32 hours of work each week, volunteers have access to a kitchen with an induction stovetop with a large conventional/convection oven; a refrigerator/freezer with door ice and water; a chest freezer; a lot of cupboard space; and all the pots, pans, dinnerware, silverware, cooking utensils, dish drainer and dishtowels a volunteer meal might require!
The utility area has a commercial size washer and dryer which are big enough for the most generous quilt, a utility tub, a drying rack for delicates and a large laundry folding area. A cell phone repeater behind headquarters provides convenient cell phone and internet connection in this remote area of the refuge.
All of this in addition to living on this beautiful wildlife refuge! For more information on the volunteer program, please contact us at wichitamountains@fws.gov.
