Refuge hours

 
Two Ponds can be explored in a variety of ways.  The East side is open seasonally at the main entrance. The West side of the Refuge is open year-round from dawn to dusk. Hike the landscape, listen to and observe the wonders of nature, take only pictures and leave only footprints. To guide you, click on the Maps link on the right side of this page.
 

 

Help us protect the habitat and wildlife: DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE REFUGE!

The Refuge provides several wildlife-oriented recreational opportunities to the public:

  • Environmental education programs
  • Guided tours
  • Service projects available throughout the year
  • Several trails are open to the public seasonally
  • Two areas for public use
  • East Side: Open May - September (Closed October - April)
  • West Side: Open year round, entrance on SW corner 80th & Kipling)

Visitors will see a variety of WILDLIFE and HABITAT

  • Cattails, milkweed, rushes and willows
  • Brome grass dominates (with needle-and thread grass)
  • Yucca, prickly pear, and rabbitbrush
  • More than 120 bird species
  • Deer, turtles, fox, coyotes, ducks, geese, rabbits and voles
