Since the Tijuana Slough NWR has such a biodiversity-rich assemblage of plants and animals, it is a wonderful place to photograph. Migratory birds keep each season interesting, and visitors flock here to see them from all over the world!

The Light-footed Clapper Rail only lives in wetlands along the coast of southern CA and northern Baja CA, Mexico. They are very secretive birds within the thick marsh, and exhibit a loud call of "Kek-kek-kek." They were listed as Federally Endangered in 1970 due to habitat loss and degradation.
