On Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 7 p.m., meet at Blue Hill Trail for a guided cross country ski through the prairie and woods of the refuge. There will also be a bonfire, where participants can make friends and enjoy treats provided by the Friends of Sherburne NWR. Bring your own skis and equipment. Enjoy exhilarating snowshoe treks through our refuge! SNWR invites you to join us on Saturday, February 7 and February 21, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., for guided snowshoe hikes. Meet at the snowshoe shed, south side of CR9, just west of the river. Adult and kid snowshoes will be provided and no prior snowshoe experience is necessary. Participants can also enjoy snacks and refreshments provided by the Friends of Sherburne NWR. This is event is free and open to the public of all ages. Join us for International Migratory Bird Day and our Spring Celebration of Nature. Friends of Sherburne NWR will host a plant sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and their bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m as well! All activities will be at the Refuge Headquarters located on CR9. This event is FREE and open to the public of all ages.
June is a wonderful time to see migrating bird species and summer residents! Please join us for a guided bird hike on Saturday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Participants should meet at the parking lot of Blue Hill Trail on the north side of CR9.
June is an excellent time to see some of the first blooms of summer! On Saturday, June 13, at 10 a.m., meet you guide at the refuge headquarters located on CR 9 for a car caravan tour in search of wildflowers.
On Friday, August 14, from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., join author Jim Sogaard to learn about these fly-by-night creatures. Meet at the refuge headquarters on CR9.
