Fire Management

Engine 58 CrewThe San Diego NWR Complex manages fire to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats while protecting its facilities and surrounding communities. Fire management is integrated into the Refuge's land management program.

The Southern California Fire Management Zone

The Southern California Fire Management Zone is headquartered out of the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge Complex in Jamul, California. The Zone provides fire management services to the Blue Ridge, Bitter Creek, Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes, Hopper Mountain, Seal Beach, Coachella Valley, Sonny Bono Salton Sea, San Diego Bay, San Diego and Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuges.

Our Fire Management Plan

This document establishes guidelines for the Fire Management Program on the San Diego NWR Complex.  The San Diego NWR Complex includes Tijuana Slough NWR, San Diego Bay NWR, San Diego NWR, Seal Beach NWR, and the Del Mar Mesa Vernal Pools Management Unit.
