McGinty Mountain trailhead
McGinty Mountain is a steep and somewhat challenging trail. This trail is not meant for beginner hikers. Always try to hike with a buddy, and bring plenty of water. There are no trail signs, so please stay on the trail most traveled.
There is a 17-space parking lot and trail staging area located on Jamul Drive, approximately one-half mile west of Lyons Valley Road, in Jamul, California. From this parking area, access is available to the designated trail system on the McGinty Mountain area of the Refuge by a trail system that was established within a series of trail easements. These easements and other properties connecting to the refuge are both private and public lands.
Please stay on the designated trail. A trail map is not available yet, however a guided "Hike with a Ranger" monthly hike series by Refuge staff is held at times on this trail. Please check our events calendar to find out when.
