The northern leopard frog's range has been decreasing throughout most of the southwest. A captive breeding program, in partnership with Pahranagat High School, has helped to reintroduce the northern leopard frog to several of the springs in the southern half of the refuge.

Mule Deer: Visitors hiking in the early morning or late afternoon regularly report seeing deer.

Desert Tortoise: Nevada's official state reptile can survive a year or more without access to water. It is currently listed as threatened.

Pahrangat Valley Montane Vole

Black Tailed Jackrabbit

Pahranagat Roundtail Chub: Historically the chub lived throughout Pahranagat Valley and it is hoped that through restoration efforts the chub will once again be found on the refuge. It was listed as endangered in 1970 and resides north of the refuge.

Pahranagat Speckled Dace: This species of dace is the predominant native fish in Pahranagat Valley. It can be found in the outflows of regional springs and on the refuge.
