The refuge is located 150 miles from Milwaukee, WI and 180 miles from Minneapolis, MN. Most of the refuge lies north of Highway 21 and west of Highway 80, with all property in Juneau County. The refuge visitor center is the best place to start your visit! The visitor center is located at N11385 Headquarters Road, Necedah, WI 54646. The refuge provides opportunities to observe wildlife while traveling by car, trunk, or ATV on public township roads or by hiking on any of the six established trails. Visitor center hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Closed Federal holidays, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. When planning a trip to the refuge, it is important to wear sturdy shoes for land excursions and to dress for the weather. Bring water, food, insect repellent and anything else that might make the outdoor experience more enjoyable. Binoculars and field guides are available for loan at the visitor center.
