Visitor Center Exhibits Closing Daily at Noon

Prairie Learning Center signDue to the mechanical failure of the cooling and heating system in the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, the exhibit and movie portions will be closed daily at noon beginning Monday, July 21. This closure will be in effect until further notice.

The lack of cooling ability and humidity control in the heat of the afternoon creates a situation that is not safe for visitors, volunteers and staff. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is working to accomplish the needed repairs, however a completion date is not known at this time.

Visitors will still be able to access the building after noon for information, America the Beautiful passes, water, and restrooms. Visitors will be directed to the staff offices for information.

The trails and auto tour will remain open sunrise to sunset.
