Join refuge volunteers as we work on seasonal projects to restore and reconstruct our native tallgrass prairie and oak savanna ecosystems!
Children ages 3-5 are invited to bring their favorite adult and join us as we learn about what prairie animals eat! We will read stories, go outside, make nature crafts, and much more. Volunteer to help us monitor and count butterfly species along
the Overlook and Tallgrass Trails. All experience levels and ages are
invited.Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge would love
for you and your family to join us for our annual butterfly count. Come
learn about butterflies and discover their intricate differences as a
naturalist guides you through the tallgrass prairie. We will record the
species and numbers of butterflies identified, and we will use this information
to help track butterfly populations on the refuge. Volunteers of all ages
and skill levels are welcome to participate. Sign up by calling
