Nansemond National Wildlife Refuge is a seasonal home for migratory waterfowl, including black ducks, mallards and canvasbacks, as well as wading, marsh and shorebirds. The Nansemond River is a tributary of the James River in Virginia.

Nansemond is closed to the public, but if you would like to view wildlife in the area, check out Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge which is only 20 minutes away!
