Youth Conservation Corps

YCC
YCC Large 512x341
Each year Modoc National Wildlife Refuge hires local high school students to staff the YCC (Youth Conservation Corps) crew. This crew aides the Refuge in construction, maintenance, biological, and habitat management projects, while gaining valuable work experience in a professional environment. Along with the crew's primary duties, they will also enjoy 1 field trip to Blue Lake, get hands on experience handling and banding waterfowl, be a part of a large habitat improvement project, and sit in on a variety of environmental education presentations. The YCC program gives youth a rich opportunity to be involved with the National Wildlife Refuge System.

Do you or someone you know want to apply for the Modoc NWR YCC Crew? If so, complete this application and return it to the Refuge by the application deadline, which is usually late April or early May. Please contact the Refuge for the specific deadline date.
