All land and water areas of the refuge are open daily from sunrise to sunset from February 1 to October 15. From October 16 through January 31, refuge lands west of Meredosia Lake are closed to provide a safe resting place for migratory birds. Foot access is permitted on refuge land along the east side of Meredosia Lake in Morgan County during the closure period. The boat ramp remains open throughout the year for access to Meredosia Lake.Nut, berry, and mushroom picking is allowed in all areas open to public access.Motorized vehicles are allowed on Beach Road on the east side of Meredosia Lake and on the entrance road and public parking area near the maintenance facility. Off-road vehicle use, including ATVs, is prohibited.Camping, overnight use of the refuge, fires and fireworks are not permitted.Pets must be on a leash.The possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is not allowed.Meredosia National Wildlife Refuge is closed to hunting. Waterfowl hunting is permitted through annual lottery draws on the state-managed, Meredosia Lake.
