The Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge has nearly 40,000 acres open to the public.  From the beaches and dune system of Boca Chica to the thorn scrub desert of Starr County, there is a lot to see and enjoy on one of the most biologically diverse national wildlife refuges in the system.

Hunting can instill a unique understanding and appreciation of wildlife. As practiced on the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge, it is an important wildlife management tool that helps maintain habitat for many native species.
