Friends Group Information

Most refuges and wetland management districts across the country have a private, voluntary support group associated with it known as a “Friends Group.” These groups of volunteers from the local community are committed to stewardship of refuge or district lands. Friend's activities range from on-the-ground preservation, restoration, and management actions to promotion and education of the public about the benefits these lands provide to our quality of life. Litchfield district currently does not have a Friends Group. We are actively seeking volunteers to start a Friends Group and welcome thoughts on how to involve the community in district land stewardship. Call or email the district headquarters for more information at 320-693-2849 or litchfieldwetland@fws.gov.
