  • 2010 Comprehensive Conservation Plan

    The purpose of the Comprehensive Conservation Plan is to specify a management direction for the Refuge for the next 15 years. The goals, objectives, and strategies for improving Refuge conditions—including the types of habitat we will provide, partnership opportunities, and management actions needed to achieve desired conditions – are described in the CCP. The Service’s preferred alternative for managing the Refuge and its effects on the human environment, are described in the CCP as well.

  • 1972 Chickaloon Flats Management Agreement

    This document dated April 1972 is a Memorandum of Understanding made between the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Forest Service hereinafter and U.S. Fish and Wildlife establishing agreed upon management guidelines for the Chickaloon Flats area of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.

  • 2001 Fire Management Plan

    Every area with burnable vegetation must have an approved Fire Management Plan.  Fire Management Plans must be consistent with firefighter and public safety, values to be protected, and land, natural, and cultural resource management plans, and must address public health issues.

    In 1986, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) approved the Final Kenai Refuge Comprehensive Conservation Plan. That plan directed a more detailed management plan be prepared to address specific public comment regarding furbearer management changes on the refuge.

    The purposes of this final management plan are:  1. To describe wildlife viewing, interpretation, and photography opportunities within the Skilak WRA;  2. To identify development of compatible facilities and programs to facilitate wildlife viewing, interpretation, and photography opportunities within the Skilak WRA; and, 3. To identify other wildlife-dependent recreation opportunities that do not conflict with #1 & #2 above.

  • 1997 Upper Kenai River Cooperative Plan

    The Upper Kenai River Cooperative Plan is a product of a joint effort of the Chugach National Forest, Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Kenai Peninsula Borough, Cook Inlet Region, Inc., local residents and others interested in the future of the upper Kenai River corridor.  The Plan addresses the public lands and waters within ¼ mile of the Kenai and Russian Rivers between Kenai, Lower Russian and Skilak Lakes.
