The Refuge campgrounds offer over 120 RV and tent sites to accommodate a wide range of visitor expectations. Free camping in the Skilak area and on Swanson and Swan Lake Roads is available year-round. 

From mid May to Labor Day weekend camping fees at Hidden and Upper Skilak Campgrounds:
 *Hidden Lake Campground - All sites are $10.00 per night
 *Upper Skilak Lake Campground -  All sites are $10.00 per night, except walk-in tent sites are $5.00 per night

 *Note - Card holders of the Interagency Access Pass, or Interagency Senior Pass get 50% off camp fees!


Campsites cannot be reserved in advance. These sites are all first come, first served.

Camping may not exceed fourteen days in a thirty-day period anywhere on the refuge. Campers may not spend more than two consecutive days at the Kenai-Russian River access area, or more than seven consecutive days at Hidden Lake Campground. Backcountry camping is also permitted in the Refuge, at least 1/4 mile away from the Sterling Highway, Ski Hill Road, or Skilak Lake Road.
