Turkey Hunting

Hunting PagesIroquois National Wildlife Refuge is open to hunting during most New York State hunting seasons in accordance with New York State laws and refuge specific regulations. Refuge permits are required for all hunting on the refuge. Printed regulations are available from staff at the visitor center, in boxes located in the parking lot of the visitor center, or by clicking the links below:

The refuge is currently reviewing our hunt program and some information below is subject to change. Please check back periodically to make sure you are in compliance with the most recent rules and regulations.

The following fact sheet provides general information and instructions for turkey hunting on Iroquois NWR.

The refuge is open to turkey hunting in the spring only. The refuge uses a random drawing to fill the 75 turkey hunting permits available. Hunters may obtain a permit for one of two sessions. Session 1 runs from May 1 - May 15 and we issue 50 permits for this season. Session 2 runs from May 16 - May 31 and we issue 25 permits for this season. To be entered in the drawing, interested hunters must obtain a Big/Upland Game Hunt Application (form 3-2356). Click on the link below to download the application. You may also request that an application be sent to you via mail. Call 585-948-5445 ext. 2212 to have one sent to you. Those selected for the hunt will receive their permit in the mail. Applications are accepted from March 1 - April 1.
