Deer Hunting

Hunting PagesIroquois National Wildlife Refuge is open to hunting during most New York State hunting seasons in accordance with New York State laws and refuge specific regulations. Refuge permits are required for all hunting on the refuge. Printed regulations are available from staff at the visitor contact station, in boxes located in the parking lot of the visitor contact station, or by clicking the links below:

The refuge is currently reviewing our hunt program and some information below is subject to change. Please check back periodically to make sure you are in compliance with the most recent rules and regulations.

Deer Hunting Fact Sheet (pdf)

Beginning with the 2009-2010 season the refuge instituted an annual Refuge brochure/permit for deer. When signed and dated on the front the brochure becomes a permit which is valid for the duration of the hunt seasons (archery, muzzleloader and regular).

Permits will be available from the five hunt kiosks in late September. They may also be obtained in person, at the refuge office.

Harvest reports are optional, yet the information in valuable and we would appreciate the reports. Only one report needs to be sent in per the season. Note that these are generic forms which are used by refuges across the US. Some information may not be pertinent to our area.

Obtain harvest reports from the refuge office in person, by mail or by clicking here:Big Game Harvest Report
