Hunting is permitted on the Iowa Wetland Management District’s waterfowl production areas in accordance with state, federal, and district-specific regulations. We allow hunting for migratory game birds, upland game and big game. We are currently evaluating the possibility of providing wildlife viewing opportunities specifically for the Iowa Wetland Management District through our Comprehensive Conservation Planning process. The wildlife observation platform and four-mile wildlife auto tour (open in late summer and for special events), located at our office on Union Slough National Wildlife Refuge, offer an opportunity to view wildlife common on the district.
