Get InvolvedThe Friends of Hakalau Forest NWR was started in 2006 to support the work of the refuge - to protect and restore the native forest ecosystem and habitat for native Hawaiian birds. Nationwide, friends groups assist refuges in many ways, such as raising money, channeling volunteers, taking on small projects, and building public awareness of these unique areas. Those of you who have not been to the refuge might also be interested in joining because of your interest in conservation of Hawaiian ecosystems.
