The National Wildlife Refuge System is committed to
building partnerships which encourage conservation and preservation of our
natural and cultural resources. We recognize that most of the critical
wildlife habitat that supports the diverse assemblages of wildlife that
Americans enjoy is not within the protected confines of Refuges. In order to protect our natural heritage we
strive to develop innovative partnerships that foster land stewardship with
other government agencies and with private landowners. Landowners often benefit from establishing
land management practices that benefit wildlife.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can
manage your land in a manner that benefits wildlife contact the Partners for Wildlife Program State
Coordinator, Mike Disney, at 785-539-3474.
We are currently looking for landowners interested in participating or learning more about the Legacy Conservation Easement Program, contact Refuge Manager Jack Bohannan at 620-392-5553x103.
