There are two information kiosks at Howard Creek and Pine Creek Units.
The Howard Creek, Fern Ridge, and Pine Creek units are open to upland game and white-tailed deer hunting in accordance with state regulations. Hunting is allowed between November 1 and January 15 You may only use archery and muzzleloading weapons for deer hunting. Construction of permanent blinds or stands is prohibited. All stands must be removed at the end of each day’s hunt. Nontoxic shot is required for upland game hunting. Spring turkey hunting is prohibited. Certain areas are posted closed to public entry. Contact the refuge for specific unit information as regulations may change with acquisitions of additional properties.

The Howard Creek, Fern Ridge, and Pine Creek units are open to wildlife observation. You may see a variety of wildlife including white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, bald eagles, American woodcock, woodpeckers and a variety of songbirds.
The Howard Creek, Fern Ridge, and Pine Creek units are provide places to explore and take photographs. No trails are available.
