Refuge Headquarters/Visitor Center:
Open 8am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  

Here, refuge staff and volunteers are available to provide you with maps, brochures and checklists and let you know what's happening on the refuge. This is also where the business of the refuge is conducted.

Refuge Hours:
April 1 to September 30: 7am to 8pm seven days a week
October 1 to March 31: 8am to 6pm seven days a week

A $2 per vehicle per day fee is charged and an entry permit is required. Restroom facilities are available seven days a week.

Enjoying the Refuge:
During hours of operation, seven days a week, you can enjoy Buffalo Lake National Wildlife Refuge's many wildlife-related activities, including wildlife watching, hiking, fishing and wildlife photography.

Refuge headquarters may be reached from U.S. 60 (east and west) and from Interstate 27 (north and south) to U.S. 60. The entrance road is located 1.5 miles south of Umbarger, Texas on F.M. 168. Umbarger is 10 miles west of Canyon and 20 miles east of Hereford on U.S. 60, approximately 30 miles southwest of Amarillo, Texas. The lat/long for navigation is 34.919517, -102.111118.
