plan your visit promo intro 512x219Ernest F. Hollings ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge has long been home to a vast array of waterfowl, songbirds, fish, shellfish, and many other animals. It's intricate network of marshes, tidal creeks, uplands and wetlands has supported a myriad of plants as well as wildlife.

The Administration Office is open Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. 

The Visitor Center, along with the Brochure Room and Refuge Video are on the lower level of the Plantation House. 

Directions:

From Hwy. 17, take SC 174 (Signs will read "Edisto Beach" and "Ernest F. Hollings ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge"). Stay on SC 174 through Adams Run (174 will make a right turn in Adams Run). At the intersection with the flashing light (Signs will read "Ernest F. Hollings ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge"), turn right on to Willtown Road. Go approximately 2 miles, entrance road will be on the left (signs will read "Ernest F. Hollings ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge"). Office is located in the Plantation House approximately 2 miles down gravel road. 

 

 Hours:

Refuge grounds are open during daylight hours year round. If the front gate is closed, you may park and walk in to the refuge. 

Know Before You Go:

Bring plenty of bug spay for mosquitoes and biting flies. 

Grove Plantation House and White Gate close at 4 PM. Visitors can stay on the grounds until sunset, but cars need to be parked outside the gate by 4 PM.
