Reelfoot Lake Christmas Bird Count
Waterfowl Counts at Reelfoot and Isom NWR's
The gravel roads entering into the Long Point unit of Reelfoot NWR, and the roads of Lake Isom NWR will be closed from Novmeber 15th to March 15th to protect the migratory waterfowl from disturbance. Viewing towers will still be accessible. The paved wildlife drive at the Grassy Island refuge unit, inluding the walking trail and viewing tower, will be accessible throughout the entire year.
Birder backpacks can be loaned out to any visitor, 7 days a week. Come to the Reelfoot National Wildlfe Refuge visitor center to obtain a backpack with your choice of bird guides and a pair of binoculars. These kits will help you identify and view the wide variety of wildlife there is at Reelfoot Lake. Items must be returned to the refuge office no later than 3:00pm
