RCW Bibliography

Welcome to "A Current Bibliographic Resource for the Red-cockaded Woodpecker." Citations in the bibliography follow the Journal of Wildlife Management Manuscript Guidelines.

The bibliography includes references from journals, symposium proceedings, books, popular magazine articles, pamphlets, and significant agency publications. Additionally, some "unpublished" academic, contractor and agency "job completion reports", "environmental analyses", and other similar documents are included.

There are 3 sections to the bibliography. The first section lists subject categories used in the index with associated key words and/or short explanations of subjects or topics included under each category. Each citation was assigned to one or more of the subject categories.

The next section is the author-subject index, which lists all citations in the master bibliography sorted alphabetically by author, then date, with their corresponding subject categories. References exceeding 2 authors are listed in the index by first author followed by et al. Citations are sequentially numbered in the index and in the bibliography. State abbreviations in the “States” column indicate which state(s) the article/research was based in; SE in that column indicates a general reference, applicable to the species range.

The last section is the body of the bibliography.

This bibliography is updated annually to highlight the latest RCW research and information available. The “master” bibliography includes all citations found up through the month and year on the file name.

Additionally, there is a smaller bibliography, which includes just “new” citations, added to our collection in the last year. The new citations are also in the master bibliography.
